Karim Benzema (34) has been one of the big names in the last few hours due to the possibility of him travelling to Qatar to watch the final of what should have been his World Cup. However, the Real Madrid striker will watch it from home.

L'Equipe reports that the relationship between Didier Deschamps and 2022 World Player of the Year Karim Benzema is once again broken. The coach did not want the striker to recover from his muscle injury at the training camp in Qatar and the Real Madrid player was forced to leave despite forecasts that he would recover by the knockout rounds.

Since then there has been no contact between the player and coach or medical staff. Even Deschamps, whenever he has been asked about him, has been seen to be tense, his face twisted. Karim's enigmatic messages on social media in recent days have not helped to clarify what happened to make the situation tense again.

Some say that this new rift has been going on since the Ballon d'Or gala when the player did not mention DD in his acknowledgements.

Although this Sunday he did show his support on his Instagram profile for his teammates and national team.

In any case, Benzema was free to accompany other injured players who missed the World Cup, such as Nkunku and Pogba, to the final alongside the President of the Republic and other illustrious French champions from previous eras. His club had no problem with his decision to travel.

However, the Lyon man was very clear about it. His place was no longer with France but at the Ciudad Deportiva de Valdebebas, where he has been training normally for a week now, as he did this Sunday.
