Carvalho scores dramatic winner as Liverpool break Newcastle hearts

Díaz had two further chances, forcing Pope to beat a fierce effort over the bar from outside the box before having another effort comfortably saved.

But there was drama to come as, after five minutes of injury time had initially been signalled, Carvalho fired home at the back post to end Newcastle’s unbeaten start and earn what could be a huge victory for Liverpool come May.
