Panthers' brilliant run continues as Hurricanes are defeated once again
The Panthers continued to impress as they won game two, taking the Hurricanes to overtime and winning 2-1, bringing themselves a step closer to winning the series.
Aleksander Barkov made left his mark on the Stanley Cup Playoffs with his two-way play throughout this unexpected run-in for the Florida Panthers.
The Panthers' captain scored the equaliser during the 2-1 overtime win at PNC Arena.
Barkov received a pass in great momentum from Josh Mahura, cut into the slot and looked like he was going to try and push the puck between Antti Raanta's legs. The Finnish waited though, let the puck slide back on his backhand, saw Raanta stretch out onto the ice in desperation, and hurled a shot over the helpless goalie to tie the game at 1-1 with 7:43 left in the second period.
"It's something that goes through your head and every time there's half a second or something you have to make a decision. You just do it. Luckily it came to me at that moment," said the Panthers' hero of the night.
His cheeky move sent his team to overtime where Matthew Tkachuk ultimately scored the winner.
