Spanish basketball star Marc Gasol (37) will continue his career and play in the Spanish ACB league again after 14 years. The center will continue to play for Basquet Girona, the club he founded in 2014, where he is president and was one of the architects of the club's historic promotion to the top domestic competition last season after retiring from the NBA. Gasol last played in the ACB in 2008 for then Girona club CB, which ran into economic problems shortly afterwards and later folded.

The former Memphis, Toronto, with whom he became NBA champion in 2019, and Los Angeles Lakers player joined the then-second-tier Girona after leaving the NBA last year, becoming a player-owner by the end of the season, and his club has now announced that Gasol will continue his playing career in Spain's top competition.

Marc Gasol played 13 seasons and 891 games in the NBA, averaging 14 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, adding another 99 starts in the playoffs. With his older brother and two-time NBA champion Pau, who retired from playing last year, he was part of the golden generation in Spain. He has two titles each from the World and European Championships and two Olympic silver medals.

Marc Gasol also played in the Spanish league for Barcelona. Girona's match against champions Real Madrid on Wednesday will kick off the new season of the competition.
