A product of Atletico-MG's youth system, Savinho (18) is one of the most promising youngsters in Brazilian football. Aged just 16, he made his debut for Galo under Jorge Sampaoli, scoring two goals in 34 games, and was soon attracting attention from clubs in Europe. The fact that City group recruited the player says a lot about his talent, his quality and his potential, with a good chance of going far.

The group invested six million euros to count on the player and unseat competition from Arsenal, RB Leipzig and Salzburg. From Galo, in 2022, Savinho went to Troyes-FRA, but it didn't take long for him to be loaned to PSV, which had Romário as one of its greatest representatives.

For the Dutch team, including the games for the lower division of the local league, he played 15 games, with two goals and three assists. Recently, Savinho was on Flashscore's list of the five biggest Brazilian talents playing in Europe.

His opportunities so far have been scarce, with an injury keeping him out of action for around three months before he returned to training at the beginning of March. The last time he played was on October 3rd 2022 in the Europa League.

Savinho regrets that he is not playing as well as he would like, but he knows he has a long road ahead of him. He keeps his feet firmly on the ground and is looking to go far and achieve his goals. "I've always had a dream of playing in the Premier League for City. I hope I can make it come true one day. Playing a World Cup for the Brazilian National Team is also something I really want", comments the player, in an exclusive interview with Flashscore.

Despite the few opportunities (the maximum time he has played so far is 31 minutes), he prefers to continue at PSV, to avoid a new adaptation, which could delay his development. "I hope that this sequence is here at PSV. I am happy, I like the city and I have a good relationship with everyone at the club", he guarantees.

New life

In Europe, Savinho faced a reality very different from the one he was used to. Climate, language, culture and football have made him need resilience and patience to know that his time will come.

In the meantime, he needs to show maturity, not just on the pitch, if he is to make a difference in the short or medium term. The presence of his family on the Old Continent lessens the difficulties that could be even greater if he were alone.

"We're making an effort to evolve as quickly as possible. I'm having to evolve a lot in the tactical part and in the intensity of the game as well. In all situations, PSV and my managers have helped me a lot. I've been learning a lot tactically, both on and off the ball," he says.

Savinho had to turn 18 to move to Europe. The player did not have the doubt that can go through the heads of many young people: whether or not this was the best decision in a career that was just beginning.

"From the project presented by the City group and PSV, I had no doubt it was the right time to go. The language, for now, has been the biggest difficulty. I'm taking classes to evolve as fast as possible", says the striker, who has been dedicating himself to English classes.

Savinho does not forget his affection for Atlético, which helped him achieve a childhood dream when he was still a teenager. Whenever he can and when the time difference allows, he follows the team's games - which can count on his presence in the future.

"I am very grateful to Atlético for everything the club has done for me. About playing there again, the future belongs to God, I was very happy at the Galo", he adds.
