Both the ATP and WTA Madrid Opens are approaching their conclusions with the men beginning their quarter-finals while the last of the women are trying to book a place in the semi-finals. Carlos Alcaraz, Karen Khachanov, Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula were the big names in action today.

21:20 CET - Iga Swiatek (21) has defeated Petra Martic (32) to move into the semi-finals at the Madrid Open. It just feels like the Pole is unstoppable at the moment and she made light work of Martic, winning 6-0, 6-3 in a little over one hour.

18:08 CET - Top seed Carlos Alcaraz (19) has made it through in Madrid, beating Karen Khachanov (26), who put up quite the fight in the second set but couldn't quite force a decider - the match ended 6-4, 7-5.

16:25 CET - Over in the doubles, top seeds Wesley Koolhof (34) and Neil Skupski (33) have been beaten 6-3, 6-2 by Rohan Bopanna (43) and Matthew Ebden (35) in the men's quarter-finals, while Victoria Azarenka (33) and Beatriz Haddad Maia (26) have won 7-6, 7-5 against Paula Badosa (25) and Bethanie Mattek-Sands (38) in the women's draw. 

15:13 CET - And we have our first result of the day in the Spanish capital. American Jessica Pegula (29) has fallen at the hands of Veronika Kudermetova (26), with the Russian claiming a 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 victory over last year's runner-up.
